“I was writing ‘The Messenger’ as a letter to my kids.”
During an interview with Noisecreep, the late Chester Bennington opened up about the deep, personal meaning behind the Linkin Park song “The Messenger” (from their 2010 album A Thousand Suns). He explained that the track was originally conceived as a heartfelt message for his children.
Here is what Chester had to say:
“I was writing ‘The Messenger’ as a letter to my kids. I was saying that eventually you’re going to go out into the world and find that it’s a challenging place, but remember that there is always a place for you where you are accepted for who you are and you are loved for all the things that make you who you are. I think that is very important and I think that helps us get through this craziness that we live in.” — Chester Bennington
